We’ve found two solutions we like when it comes to document management. Both work from within QuickBooks:

SourceLink supports QuickBooks 2007, 2006, 2005 and 2004 Pro, Premiers, and Enterprise Editions. In addition, SourceLink 4.1 SE/ME now supports QuickBooks Canadian Edition.
With SourceLink, QuickBooks users will now be able to electronically track all the documents associated with their QuickBooks records cost effectively. The days of searching through files and boxes for documents associated with a transaction are gone. SourceLink runs within multiple company files, and users have the ability to attach existing documents already in the computer, or to attach documents from a scanner.
